Media Carnival Reigns Upon Red October

It has been nearly 3 months since I updated my blog. Some hoping to read something on the blog or maybe not. I don't really care much. I will blog when I'm free and I will not when I'm not free. There is no denying reason, no denying purpose; just like what Hugo Weaving said when he portrayed Smith in The Matrix Reloaded.

What makes me stopped suddenly if you might ask about it? Basically, it was during the 1 1/2 month holiday in June - July 2009 that I was approached by my friend Ammar on a message in Facebook inbox regarding our Communication faculty is to lead and organize an annual event for the School of Communication students.

I have not decided and was still considering to willingly participate. After further information are answered, I tried attending the group meeting. A team has already assembled prematurely. But job scope and positions has yet to determine.

My final semester will be starting somewhere in mid-August at that time. So I try to have a clear mind on the positive mind and decided to participate with the team after my first meeting with them. Ammar, Shaiful and Kalai was involved. And that's when and where I first met JQ (Lee Jian Quin), Raffi Affendy Th'ng, Lilitha and Shanthi.

Weeks after weeks, soon a real team is assembled; as I brought it Cindy Chow and Nelson Teh, along came Zhao Wern and Afiq.. I tried to bring some who is capable in the industry but yet was denied by the advisors. That was when classes has started and begin and I have to accept it. There are other controversial and sensitive issues.. But I don't think it's the exact timing to blog it down, perhaps writing it not here. Just not yet!

The event project is called School of Communication (SOC) Media Carnival 2009 with the catchy tagline: Communication through Media Arts. I will tell further details or anyone of you who is reading this can just click the link of which I place.

And so we are called MosiacMedia...MosiacMedia (Conceptual logo art by Ammar Hakim Khairi. Art design by Raffi Affendy Th'ng)

Founded in July 2009, MosiacMedia is a form of vehicle which reaches to all walks of life to educate in various elements of education by containing and instilling both music and media.

MosiacMedia is an eclectic collective of outstanding individuals who, as a single unit, could easily produce extraordinary results with their capabilities. Consisted of students from School of Communication, Taylor’s College Petaling Jaya, the initial “MosiacMedia” represents “Music overwhelms Science, Interprets Arts and Communication”.

In matter of fact, this team emerges as a formation that has the capabilities to infuse music and media industry on the same platform. Bipolar energy from both can be united as one. This team drives and strives for the best, as to stand fiercely on the ground against the stereotype mind of the people towards the media industry.

MosiacMedia has come to realisation from the mind and hearts of SOC volunteers who endeavor music, arts and communication, far beyond their passion in life.

~The Great Myth Battle~

Courtesy of Brian Wood's cover art of Northlanders #6.

The blowing War Horn of strength and might,
Swords and axes drawn higher than the mountains,
And shields emblazon with mortal enemy blood,
Of Viking's Galleon sails.

Temperament sign of the Odin is bright,
Sea beasts preys behind the fountains,
Poseidon is prepared to flood,
For any Odin trails.

Scandinavian warriors will conquer with terror,
Their hordes are louder than the ocean's wave,
Behind them - the Gods has arrived,
Greatest mythological battle when diplomatic words fail.

The Greeks will screamed in horror,
Souls will be tormented and weary brave,
Their Gods will deceived then deprived,
Norse songs of clattered swords and shields shall prevail.

* It's been awhile i write about the dark ages and my poems. But afterall, acouple of words just captured my attention. I saw my friend, Ammar - wrote "When words fail, music prevails.." Sort of grab drove me into writing this metaphoric poem. But it's more than just mythology. Although both mythology was not truly stated. I just simply made it up. Thinking it would sound interesting. It is abit bias and stereotyping because i sided the Vikings and despise the Greeks for being weak. But this is just a story in my head. Then the image of Brian Wood's Northlanders came into my brain; then processing the cover art of the image i once saw before but couldn't remember which issue it was till i find it. If i am too bored, i might do some research and penning down for new ideas. Sounds cool, right?

The Best Web Browser: Flock 2.5

Flock 2.5 - the web browser you never had like before

Flock the BEST web browser in my internet life. When i started using Flock web browser, it was just beta release called the 1.5 version until i got some updates telling me it's already 2.0. I find Flock more than just a web browser. So i have been using Flock since October 2008.

It's complexity and technology within the browser has spawn magnificently into something what i called a multitasking sidebar mobile.

Why is that? In my last year review on Flock 2.0, i did mention about how convenient of its usage of being part of the web 2.0. Nonetheless, it is more than web 2.0, i did say web 3.0 instead!

This web browser gives and provides whatever application that you need. Therefore, in Flock 2.5, it brings you Twitter sidebar for Twitterer. Twitter user just have to login and save their passwords and they are connected to the sidebar. And there. You don't have to view the whole Twitter homepage to view all the comments, tweets and etc. Twitter in Flock has an ability which will auto-update tweets. Sound cool, huh?

Well, not only that! Like the previous version 2.0, it still maintain partnership with Facebook, YouTube, Bebo, Flickr, Digg, MySpace, Photobucket, Picasa, Blogger and etc.

Flock is engineered by Firefox interface but Flock is almighty better thant Firefox, Google Chrome, Maxthon, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, Netscape..

So start using Flock today!

Terminator Salvation [2009]

Terminator Salvation (2009 film)

D
irector McG (whose famed for directing Charlie's Angels film in 2000 and 2003) comes a new prequel of Terminator movie. It was dubbed as Terminator 4 but the better title is called as Terminator Salvation: The End Begins.

The film continues from Rise of the Machines after the nuclear missiles were released and initiated.

John Connor and his men assaulted and invaded Skynet VLA

In 2003, a young man was on death sentence for the the murder of two policeman and his brother. Dr. Serena Kogan (Helena Bonham Carter) from Cyberdyne Systems tries to convince him and in return to give him a second chance in life for the purpose of donating his organs for her medical research. A so-called medical research known as Project Angel. Before the agreement, the man we then know Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) asked for a kiss from Dr. Kogan before signing the contract. Soon, we see him being tied to a seat and prayers were mentioned and he has no last words before the lethal injection enters his body.

John Connor (Christian Bale) shoots a T-600

The film cuts to one year later, the day when Judgment Day finally arrives. Back to the year 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale) leads a group of Resistance against the machines on one of Skynet's base.

John Connor leading his men inside a water compound area

Connor dives down to an open underground tunnel with a group of men and finds a whole lot of human prisoners-looking-like-zombies and information of Skynet's pre-development for a new-type of Terminator incorporating with living tissue (T-800 version) which is different from what he has seen before. When Connor climbs back to the top, he finds his men and the pilots dead as if being ambushed by machines; he became the only survivor after a nuclear explosion and battling a half-piece Terminator (T-600). He then walks away from the scene.

Marcus in nude and mud

The same place of wreckage from where Connor took off, but this time the area is dark and raining; comes a naked man covered in mud. With those eyes, we knew it was Marcus, he picked up one of the Resistance clothes and travelled on foot to nowhere.

John Connor was onboard of the helicopter and shouting to his pilot to make a detour as he wants to head to the command center instead. An arguement with the pilot makes him wins the conversation and dives into the sea. The scene shows Connor sitting down facing and having a talk with his superior General Ashdown (Michael Ironside) about his discovery inside the nuclear submarine.

Connor facing General Ashdown (Michael Ironside)

The Resistance has discovered a radio frequency capable of shutting down Skynet machines. They plan to launch an offensive against the Skynet base in San Francisco in four days, in response to an intercepted "kill list" indicating that Skynet plans to kill the Resistance's command staff in four days' time. John learns that his own name is second on the list, following Kyle Reese. The Resistance leaders are unaware of Kyle's importance to Skynet, but John knows that it is because Kyle will later become his father (see The Terminator). John meets with his officer Barnes (Common) and wife Kate (Bryce Dallas Howard) and sends radio broadcasts to Resistance members and surviving civilians around the world.

Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) on top of a roof

In the ruins of Los Angeles, Marcus is saved from a T-600 Terminator by Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and his mute companion Star (Jadagrace Berry).

Reese then told Marcus, "Come with me if you wanna live".

It was after the scene when Hunter Killer (HK) arrives and leaves and knowing that there were humans around that Marcus questioned about the machines that kills.

When Marcus was gunpointed by Reese, he said to him "If you point your gun, ready to pull the trigger".

Reese then relates to Marcus the events of Judgment Day and the ensuing war between humans and machines.

Marcus Wright: What day? What year?
Kyle Reese: 2018
Marcus Wright: What happened here?
Kyle Reese: Judgment Day happened.

Marcus then followed Reese and Star to the so-called command center of Los Angeles. Marcus helps to repair a broken radio when Reese claims that he can't seem to repair them.

The Harvester releases the Moto-Terminator to kill Reese, Star and Marcus Wright

Upon hearing John's radio broadcast, the three leave Los Angeles in search of the Resistance. Marcus fixed a jeep to start rolling and had an arguement with Reese for his irresponsible and selfish behavior of abandoning them and not knowing a machine was spying on them. They survive attacks by Moto-Terminator and Harvester.

The Harvester and Transport

Unfortunate Reese, Star, and several other humans are taken prisoner, while a pair of Resistance A-10s are shot down. Marcus locates downed pilot Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) and they make their way to John's base, but Marcus is wounded by a land mine.

In an attempt to save his life, the Resistance fighters discover that he is in fact a cyborg with human organs, a mechanical endoskeleton, circuitry, and a partially artificial cerebral cortex. Marcus believes himself to be human, demanding to be released so that he can save Reese from Skynet Work Camp by infiltrating into Skynet Central in San Francisco, but Connor orders his men that Marcus would be dismantled.

Connor confrontation with Marcus Wright who believes he's human

John Connor (To Marcus): You and me. We've been at war since before either of us even existed. You tried killing my mother. You killed my father. You will not kill me.

Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) releases Marcus Wright

However, Blair releases him and helps him to escape from the base.

Connor being attacked by a Hydrobot while in his pursuit to track Marcus

During the resulting pursuit Marcus saves John's life from Skynet hydrobots, and the two form an alliance—Marcus will enter Skynet's headquarters and attempt to disable its defenses so that Connor can rescue Reese.

Connor urged the Resistance around the world to stand-by his command so as he can infiltrate the Skynet Central to rescue the prisoners

Connor demands that Ashdown delay the attack so that he can rescue Reese and the other prisoners, but Ashdown refuses and relieves John of his command. However, Connor's soldiers remain loyal to him and he sends a radio broadcast asking the other Resistance fighters not to attack Skynet.

Marcus Wright refuses to take order from Skynet after destroying the chip implanted behind his skull and destroys Skynet's mainframe and to help John Connor from the prototype T-800

Meanwhile, Marcus enters the Skynet base and interfaces with the computer, disabling the perimeter defenses and allowing Connor to infiltrate the cell block and release the human prisoners. The Resistance's disabling signal is revealed to be a ruse, and the command submarine with the resistance leaders aboard is destroyed by a Hunter-Killer.

Marcus discovers that he was created by Skynet and has unwittingly fulfilled his programmed mission to lure John into the base to be killed. He tears out the hardware linking him to Skynet and leaves to assist John in battling a T-800 Model 101 Terminator (Roland Kickinger with Arnold Schwarzenegger's CG facial).

A burn-out skin prototype T-800 model 101 series

Connor was mortally wounded during the fight, but succeeds in destroying the Skynet base by rigging several Terminator nuclear power cells to an explosive, detonating them as he, Marcus, Reese and Star are airlifted out. Kate attempts to save Connor's life, but his heart is too damaged. Marcus offers his heart for transplant, sacrificing himself to save John. Recovering, John radios to the other Resistance fighters that though this battle has been won, the war is far from over.

"Everyone deserves a second chance," said Marcus Wright to Blair Williams.

Terminator fans has been doubting director McG into directing the latest Terminator film, where the focus of the film this time isn't really about the Terminators much although there were a hell bunch of them out there. The focus is more on the human race. Their struggle of winning the war. Purpose to live and exist. Director McG has never direct anything serious so far.

Well, this time he proves what's best and he's capable of doing to please the audiences and fans.
Bale as John Connor reminds me of his role in 3:10 to Yuma where he acts alongside Russell Crowe. But Bale's portrayal in this film with Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright is a little awkward when I saw Marcus being held captive and still believes he's human; that is when John Connor's interrogation having that Batman's voice in Dark Knight with Joker.

Anton Yelchin as the young Kyle Reese; this Reese has the every knowledge of being taught by Marcus Wright where we will recall some parts being shown in The Terminator. The part where Marcus tight a rope around the rifle was shown in the first Terminator film when he battle the T-800 to protect Sarah Connor. Yelchin delivers the character very interesting and there are still a little comedy in him. Perhaps Reese was still a teenager.

Then there's this scene where the Hydrobots jumps onto Connor's face as it wriggles to kill him. Don't you think it's one of James Cameron's cameo item? Doesn't it reminds you of
facehugger in Aliens?

Superman/ Batman #54, #55 & #56 [Reviews]

Superman/Batman #54. Cover art by Rags Morales

Superman/Batman #54 has an interesting story arc which continues until #56. When battling with the Silver Banshee, she uses the brooch to get to switch Superman's powers onto Batman; making Supes lose his power and an ordinary man while Bat just have to calm himself and get used to the Supes powers. This means Supes just have to teach and guide Bat how to use those powers. Even Zatanna couldn't even to figure how the transformation is possible.

Bruce seems to learn quick and manage to get a hold of himself. But the new gift in Bruce are far more than just his new-learn abilities; his friends begins to worry about him.

Irony it seems, Clark struggles with the sudden disable of power of which unable to do the things he's done for years and Lois is having a hard time trying to get him out of it.

But will the two superheroes be able to control of themselves?

Superman/ Batman #55. Cover art by Rags Morales

In Superman/Batman #55, we see Clark in hospital with wounds and stitches. A crying Kara barges into the ward room with tears. While Batman is on berserk mode, tries to kill Catwoman and then faces his long time protege, Nightwing.

Batman even went to Tokyo to take-on the baddies: Samurais, Ninjas and Yakuzas (Ginza). Having fun with Supes' powers, that in Serbia he uses heat vision to defeat armed gangsters behind the dark alley.

In this issue, Batman quoted, "Heat vision might be my favorite. it's so... unequivocal."

Superman/ Batman #56. Cover art by Rags Morales

Superman/Batman #56 is the ending arc of Super-Batman. His mind is uncontrollable that he even takes on his friends: Justice League of America (JLA). But this time the JLA has found a solution and it's time for Batman to return to who he once were.

The JLA is deciding on Batman's fate upon returning Supes' powers (Superman/ Batman #56, Page 4 & 5)

Rag Morales' art is refreshing along with writers Michael Green and Mike Johnson who delivers us amazing story arc of the self-reflecting ala mirror image for Superman and Batman; well especially for Batman who gains Superman's powers. He has a change in self-preference after being a quick learner in using Supes abilities. But somewhere within his wandering mind which makes him uncontrollable or berserk, although he is still fighting for the same cause but has becomely utterly aggressive.

I never thought that Superman/ Batman storyline would be this impressive. It's every fans dream of telling the writer or artist: "Hey, come up with something new! Something we don't see everyday!"

And here I am gripping at my single issues of the Superman/ Batman arc. Although i could choose to get the compilation after a couple of months later..

So, Superman/ Batman? It's worth your cash to get it. But wait for the compilation would be better. Single issues are alright but happy finding of course (if they are still around at local stores!).

崖の上のポニョ (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea) [2008]

崖の上のポニョ (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea) [2008 film]

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is a 2008 anime film produced by Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. This is his 10th animation film from Miyazaki for Studio Ghibli since 1984.

Ponyo with her little sisters before the escape

She does it in espionage ways to avoid being seen and caught by her father, Fujimoto who balance the equilibrium which happens in the sea and the world. When the fish girl succeeded to float on a jellyfish and covered herself with another; she felt asleep.

Upon reaching the surface, she was awaken by the sound of danger for the ship's propeller rotates nearer to her. Sosuke with his toy ship overlooking something weird by the shore. Voiced by Hiroki Doi

Cut to a young boy who is holding his toy ship and who's caring mother warned him not to go near the sea. The boy rushes down towards the shore and was about to release his toy ship before something caught his attention. He approached the shore and found a fish stuck inside the jar and he saw a mermaid in it and spontaneously called it Ponyo. He tries to shake Ponyo off the jar but it doesn't came off. Then he tried breaking the jar with a rock. He tries his best to save Ponyo no matter what.

Sosuke tries to pull Ponyo off the jar

He went up to his house and puts a bucket of water into it and place Ponyo in it. Ponyo was however either unconscious or asleep. Ponyo wakes up and spit water at the young boy. The young boy's mother called his name and asked to get ready: his name is Sosuke.

Ponyo in a water bucket placed by Sosuke

Sosuke brings along Ponyo to the car and showed to his mother: Risa. Risa compliments how cute and nice is Ponyo. Sosuke tries to feed Ponyo with bread but Ponyo doesn't like having. Sosuke offered a small piece of ham but Ponyo greedily jumps and ate the whole ham.

Ponyo loves ham!

Sosuke arrived at the nursing care home for old folks which besides the building is a kindergarden. He carries the bucket to his kindergarden and tries to hide Ponyo from the public view. However after classes, Ponyo's was seen by Sosuke's friend and spat a stringe of water on her, thus making her cried. Sosuke then ran to the nursing center as he tries to change the water and accidentally dropped Ponyo off and also letting her sucked by the drainage.

Ponyo was introduced to two grandmothers who are too weak to walk while the other grandmother curse Ponyo because for she presumed that a mermaid who came to the surface will no doubt causes Tsunami. Sosuke ran away and went hiding below the cliff and near the sea shore and vow to Ponyo that he will protect her.

A sudden appearances of Fujimoto summoned the Demon Waves to retrieve Ponyo. Sosuke was in so afraid in losing her that he screams her name to find her. Risa saw Sosuke and brought him back from the sea.

Fujimoto - Ponyo's father. Voiced by George Tokoro

Ponyo and her father have a confrontation, where Ponyo refuses to let her father call her "Brünnhilde" and declares she is Ponyo, and voices her desire to become human, because she has started to fall in love with Sōsuke. Her father silences her with difficulty and goes to summon Ponyo's mother. Meanwhile, Ponyo, with the help of her sisters, breaks away from her father, and uses his magic to make herself human. This causes an imbalance in the world, which in turn results in a huge storm. Riding on the waves of the storm, Ponyo goes back to visit Sōsuke. Risa, Sōsuke, and Ponyo stay the night at Sōsuke's house, hoping the storm will be over, whereupon she leaves the house to check up on the residents of the nursing home she works at.

Ponyo's mother: Granmammare. Voiced by Tomoko Yamaguchi

Granmammare, Ponyo's mother, arrives at Fujimoto's submarine. Fujimoto notices the moon has come out of its orbit and the satellites are falling like shooting stars. Granmammare declares that if Sōsuke and Ponyo pass a test, Ponyo can live as a human and the world order will be restored.

Sōsuke and Ponyo wake up to find that most of the land has been submerged. Risa has not come home yet, so with the help of Ponyo's magic, they make Sōsuke's toy boat life-size and set out to find Risa. While travelling they see ancient extinct fish swimming, such as the Gogonasus and Licosus.

Ponyo jumps off the bucket and landed kissing Sosuke and became a 5 year old girl

After landing and finding Risa's empty car, Ponyo and Sōsuke go through a tunnel. There Ponyo loses her human form and resumes the form of a fish. Sōsuke and Ponyo are captured by Fujimoto and they safely arrive at the nursing home and meet Granmammare. Granmammare asks Sōsuke if he can love Ponyo even if she is a fish or mermaid. Sōsuke replies that he loves Ponyo in all forms. Granmammare then allows Ponyo to become human once Ponyo kisses Sōsuke on the surface.

Overall, this film is simple and cute. It's almost as if watching Disney's Little Mermaid whose curiousity about the human world and how she fell in love with a man. That is the same exact story but Miyazaki made it interesting as in for children to endure and enlighten about a new story which revolves of an innocent young boat lives on a highland home surrounded with sea. Happens to find a mermaid by shore or by coincidence. Because Ponyo escapes from home to the outside world. A simple tale with a sentimental plot. It's a good watch although there are lack of culture if compare to the previous Ghibli works he has produced.

Make The Girl Dance - Baby Baby Baby [The Naked Truth is in France!]

In the middle of busy downtown in France, three hot babes stripped naked while walking along the streets. Everyone who stares just got eye-censored. Imagine if someone did that in Asia, the police and the traffic warden would come rushing to the scene and cover them. Alright! Forget about the law and enjoy the video.

Anyone can do magic to remove this black censored thingy?? I would like to see them for real than to do the imagination behind the black bar.. ^_^

J'adore!! I'm in love with France and the French babes now!!!
