Ernesto 'Che' Guevarra

The late Ernesto "Che" Guevara

His image is can-sprayed and graffitied behind the shops of every row. His eyes looking forward as if he knows something that has to be done. That famous beard and military cap which we see even today. Long gone has he been shot and executed by CIA Felix Rodriguez on October 9, 1967 in Bolivia. His famous picture has become part of today's culture and popular icon in the 21st century.

After his death in Bolivia, a memorial site was built to remember Che's deeds in La Higuera where he was executed.

Today, we see his other side story when he was like everyone young man. But of course we can't compare our generation gap. Things have change. Diarios de motocicleta (The Motorcycle Diaries) tells the story of a young Ernesto Guevara and his fellow friend Alberto Granado traveling on a Norton 500 motorcycle as they christened it as La Poderosa (The Mighty One). Both young doctors en route on an expedition to reach the Andes and celebrate Alberto's 30th birthday. The biography journey is a written memoir of Ernesto Guevara before he became the revolutionaire hero of Cuba. This biopic was turn into a film by Walter Salles in 2004. Starring Gael Garcia Bernal (Ernesto Guevara) and Rodrigo de la Serna (Alberto Granado).

Personally speaking - I wasn't much of a fan Che until i read his autobiography and his journey. Before this i pretty much like the young Fidel Castro who is good in debating and fighting for his people. The Marxist-Lenism comes Communism wasn't so much at that time. I couldn't remember the title of the film on how the young Castro becomes the leader of Cuba by overthrowing Batista. As far as i know, his words are so deep and true. Now, i still think of Che as a great Socialist and Marxist revolutionaire.
