King of California is a story which narrates on Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood) being abandoned by her mother and she has to leave school to support herself by being a cashier at McDonald's. Until one day, her father Charlie (Michael Douglas) was released from the mental institution.
When Charlie is finally back at home, Miranda finds her moment of peace disrupted by her father's obsessed in finding a fool's gold left by a Spanish explorer Father Juan Florismarte Torres somewhere in California.
It has such a nice art of photography but the overall storyline fails to deliver an impact rather it seemingly much a slow tempo and struggling to give viewers to slowly digesting the content. It's a predictable plot. Not really a surprise!
