The Sorcerer's Apprentice is an upcoming modern-fantasy film by Jon Turteltaub. The director behind National Treasure in 2004. It seems that the film is an adaptation from Walt Disney's animated film feature: Fantasia. Not to mention that The Sorcerer's Apprentice was also a score chapter of Fantasia with the famous composer Paul Dukas who performed the music for Steamboat Willie.
Apparently both upcoming and 1940s animated film gets its inspired from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Der Zauberlehrling; a poem written in 1797 (Wikipedia 2009).
But if anyone who happens to remember the Mickey Mouse wearing red robe and blue wizard hat with yellow cresent on it.. and there is this part the broomstick comes alive? Basically Fantasia was based on Goethe's poem as a whole.
But as for the upcoming modern-fantasy-sorcery film is a different twist. It is nothing like Epic Mickey or Fantasia but more "human"...
The movie-trailer looks promising good!
Come to think about it.. I hope it doesn't be like some mumbo-jumbo Harry Potter kiddie-flicks!
Balthazar Blake isn't my choice of actor for watching! Oh well.. we will see the verdict next year!
With the term "Apprentice" - the cinematic doesn't seem like it..
But it could end up with films like WANTED and Constantine.. Both excellent films!
Also starring: Monica Bellucci, Alfred Molina (Doc Ock from Spiderman 2), Teresa Palmer and Toby Kebbell.
